Beauty Blender Dupe!!

Its always when I least expected or had no view of buying anything as I wander round the shop that I find a great beauty buy. This time it was in H&M of all places and I just had to purchase it, at the cheap and cheerful price of £1.99 I thought it was worth a shot to try out this Beauty Blender dupe!

The Beauty Blender (link here) is a specially designed sponge to apply and blend make-up products such as foundation, concealer and blusher. It has an egg like shape with no edges so that it leaves a seamless finish with no visible lines and streaks which you may get with usual triangular shaped sponges. The Beauty Blender is made to be used damp, stippling with the base to apply and blend product and using the narrow end to get to hard to reach areas such as around the nose, mouth and under the eyes. You can also use the pointed end to cover blemishes.
Beauty Blender-£16

H&M Blender  £1.99
As you can see the H&M blender is a fraction of the price of a Beauty Blender at £16.00 for one sponge compared to H&M's £1.99 version. As the Beauty Blenders egg like shape is patented the shape isn't exactly the same but it has the same rounded base and pointed front so you can still stipple on products and use the narrow end to get to hard to reach places. When I tried this damp it worked really well to apply foundation onto the skin, creating a heavier coverage and even base. The narrower end was great to apply concealer by stippling and rolling to blend.

Happy Blogging!!

MUA Cosmetics NEW 'Every Lash' Mascara!

Who can't resist a new mascara? I know I can't and so when I found out about this mascara I really wanted to try it out, so here it goes!

Introducing 'Every Lash' Mascara, this is the new mascara from MUA Cosmetics (link here).
It comes in shades black, black/brown and waterproof black so is great if you want a holiday-proof mascara at a bargain price! Now onto the brush, the brush as you can see below is a plastic comb brush with little teeth along the wand and a rounded end with teeth positioned in all angles. Now I know some are undecided on these style brushes and are loyal to their original style mascara wands but I feel this comb style wand really enables you to get to the root of your lashes and defines every lash without clumping ! (it does what it says on the tin!!).

The results:

Before
After

I am really impressed with this mascara and felt it really did define each lash as well as separating them out, giving  length and with two coats giving a nice amount of volume to my lashes without any clumps (down to the trusty style of the wand).

This mascara really reminds me of Benefit's They're Real Mascara and so if you love that then you will love this one and at only a fraction of the price, you really cant go wrong!

Purchase it at Superdrug stores for only £3!

Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Foundation

Beauty Bloggers!

After thinking Benefit would never bring out a liquid foundation, they finally have! I introduce to you Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW Brightening Foundation, retailing at £24.50. The foundation comes in nine different shades ranging from lighter shades to darker ones and is oil-free which is great if, like me, you have combination/oily skin, it also has SPF25 which is by far the highest sun factor I have seen in a foundation and so you can protect your skin from the ageing sun rays whilst looking good. It also contains Benefits Oxygen Wow Hydrating Complex which boosts cellular respiration and so prevents the signs of ageing. Who can say no to that?

I find that the packaging is very different from Benefit's usual, colourful, unique packaging and bares quite plain compared to the rest but nonetheless chic. Inside the box it also comes with a Porefessional Primer sample, which may I add is a fantastic primer if you suffer with larger pores and would be great if Benefit did this more often.

I bought this foundation online in shade 'Amber', but let me warn you, the shades are much darker than the Hello Flawless powders and do not correspond, even though they have the same names so you should definitely get matched first. For example, I am ‘Hazelnut’ in the powder but 'Amber' in the liquid foundation and even Amber is very slightly too dark for me!  The foundation itself is quite runny and light in texture rather than creamy and provides a light/medium coverage depending on how much you apply as it is buildable and feels light weight on the skin, giving a dewy finish and glow. I wore this today with the Porefessional primer underneath on my t-zone and a sheer covering of translucent power on those areas that tend to get shine and it lasted all day and made my skin look naturally flawless. I applied the foundation with ELF's Studio Stipple Brush (link) to really blend the foundation into the skin for an even, airbrushed coverage and i really do feel it made the difference. Overall, I am impressed with the foundation and would recommend it!!

Benefit, Benefit.. Benefit!!

Hi my fellow bloggers, so before I start my post on a few Benefit Products, I wanted to draw you guys attention to the fact that I am in LOOK and DARE magazine, if any of you remeber a while ago I mentioned in a post I'd be reviewing some products in the mags, well they've published it so check it out :)

Now onto the real post,

First up, Hoola (£23.50). A matte bronzer great for fair/oliver skin tones to warm up the skin without looking orangey as it has no orange undertone and more of a brown/beige tone which is great! It's matte aswell and so is great to avoid looking like a glitterball. The powder comes in a square box liek the rest of the blushers/bronzers Benefit do, with a mirror and a mini brush which is great in an emergency make-up fix!

Bella Bamba(£23.50) - Now, when I used to work for Benefit and show customers this blusher, they'd take one look at the bright pink shade and be too scared to try it on, but once on ,it has a lovely pink colour with a shimmering gold undertone, which really does give it a dimensional colour and somewhat reminds me of Nars Orgasm Blusher. It also smells delicious and fruity!! Try this on top of Hoola for pretty summer look!

You Rebel (£23.50)- One of my favourite tinted moisturisers! This has SPF 15 in with vitamins A and C and so protect and soothe the skin whilst providing a sheer cover and giving a healthy glow to the skin. I wear this as a foundation but if you prefer more coverage try this is a powder foundation on top! It comes in this original shade which blends to match your skin tone and also 'You Rebel Lite' which is for the fairer skinned ladies. Another great thing about this is it lasts forever! A little really does go a long way.A summer holiday MUST!

This amount would cover the face!

Bad Gal Liner Waterproof in Extra Black (£14) - Staying true to its shade name, this liner really does come out an intense black, so no more 'meant to be black' grey looking liner!! It comes with a smudger on the end to creat a smokey look.

What are your Benefit favs?

(Upcoming Post- Benefits New- Hello Flawless Oxygen WOW foundation!!

Guinot Skincare

Hello Lovelies,

So for the past week I have been on Guinot training in Ascot, to be trained in their facials and products for my salon job. The training was really great and in depth and I'd recommend any therapists to give Guinot training a go as the facials give great results and the products are lovely! Guinot (pronounced Gi-no) is a french skin care brand, which provide a huge range of face and body products from age care to sun care, make-up to body care. All their products are named in french and they have products for all skin types.

Now for you beauty bloggers and buyers I shall give you  a little insight on Guinots skincare range as many of you may not have heard of them as their products can only be bought in salons which sell/ provide Guinot treatments. Whilst on training I got given this box set of some of their products to try out, this is what I got given:

Eau D'Emaquillante Parfaite-  For those of you, guilty of using make-up wipes to quickly remove make-up before bed? I know your out there! This 3-in-1 cleanser is a must, its quick and easy to use as it cleanses the face, removes eye make-up and tones! It contains Flower and Cucumber extracts to soothe the skin and Ginseng which helps to give a glow to the skin. I wouldn't advise using this for long-term use, but its great to take to the gym or on holiday, apply to dry cotton pads and remove. Simples!

Gommage Grain D'Eclat- If you like exfoliators with grains, you will like this, it removes dead skin and moisturises the skin, different to other exfoliators you apply a thin veil of this to the skin, leave for a few minutes and roll off with fingers and then rinse. The point of rolling off the exfoliator first is that the friction caused by this causes the jojoba microspheres to burst providing moisture to the skin. I would advise this exfoliator to sensitive, inflamed skins due to the friction.

Longue Vie Cellulaire-None of use want to accept it but once you get to your twenties the first signs of ageing can start. Not necessarily on the outside but the inside, this moisturiser revitalises the skin for a lovely glow and contains a Cellular life complex which is used in hospitals to treat burns and so this is great for skin which may be scarred and needs healing.

Long Vie Yeux- An eye cream which prevents lines occurring in younger skin and smoothes fine lines and signs of tiredness. Great for those with the beginning signs of ageing round the eyes.

Masque Energie Lift- A lovely mask which reveals glowing skin, brightens the complex and instantly smoothes wrinkles and tightens the skin. Containing vitamin C.

Longue Vie Corps- A luxurious body firming cream which smoothes the skin and has the Cellular life Complex in which is great for scarring because of its regenerating effect. It has a lovely creamy texture.

Hope you found this post interesting!

E.L.F Haul!

Happy Sunday everyone, even if the weather is less than cheery here in South London!

Known for their speedy delivery and cheap cosmetics, I have purchased more from E.L.F (www.eyeslipsface.co.uk)  for those who have never checked it out. It's great if you are looking for cheap but decent quality products!

So this time I bought the following:

STUDIO Range Stipple Brush- £.3.50

I have longed for one of these brushes for ages, for my kit and so when I saw it on the website I thought it was a must to buy it! The Taklon brush can be used with wet or dry products and can be used in many ways; from applying foundation to highlighting. The brush has two layers of bristles, short black hairs and longer white hairs to pick up more product and evenly buff it into the skin. You can blend in for a sheer to heavy coverage or apply with a stippling motion for a more concentrated colour. I am quite happy with this brush and at £3.50 you can't really go wrong. Obviously the quality isn't the same as a MAC or Bobbi Brown brush but I haven't had any hairs fall out from it so far and it has been washed multiple times!

STUDIO Range Tinted Moisturiser in Almond for medium to dark skin with yellow undertones-£3.50

Blended

As a fan of You Rebel Tinted Moisturiser, I needed to buy a new one as mine is running out but decided to give this one a go to see how it compared. I bought shade 'Almond' which is stated to be for medium to dark skin tones with a yellow undertone. The moisturiser has SPF 20, which is great for use on holiday and also contains Aloe vera, Cucumber and Vitamins A, C & E which are all great for the skin with their soothing and protecting properties. As expected, the tinted moisturiser provides a sheer coverage and easily blends into the skin. However, due to the product being bought online, the colour isn't always as expected. In the photo it appears to be a match but on my face it  actually has quite a pink undertone , contrary to its 'yellow undertone' description which has disappointed me. However, if you do get the right colour match I do feel it is a good tinted moisturiser for the price and would recommend it.

Mineral Lipstick in Natural Nymph- £3.50

For ages, I have been looking for the perfect nude lipstick to suit my skin tone and unfortunately this wasn't the one for me. From ELF's Mineral range, this lipstick has no parabens, preservatives or chemical dyes and provides a creamy, matte texture . Unfortunately, the shade is definitley too light for me and gives me more of a 'near death' look than a pretty nude lip! However, I would recommend this lip shade to fairer skins as I feel it would definitely give a great nude lip, after a few applications- as the pigmentation isn't fabulous.

Any nude lipstick recommendations for tanned skin tones?

No7 Vital Brights Lipstick

Hi my fellow bloggers, sorry for my absence and lack of blog posts recently!

I went shopping today and after seeing this lipstick in Boots a few times but never wanted to pay £10 for it, luckily as my mum was buying some bits in Boots she got one of those fab £5 off vouchers for No7 products! So I got it for £5, RESULT!

The shade is 'Blooming Pink' which is a medium shade,non-shimmer, blue based pink lip colour with a creamy, light texture and glossy finish. The packaging is very different to No7's usual deep blue, black or brown colour packaging, with a white box and case. The packaging is adorned with a pretty, pink and yellow flowers giving a really girly, spring time look to this new range.

Sleek, white packaging

I really love this shade of pink as its not too bright and could be worn either day or night, it also feels very moisturising on the lips and the colour is buildable.

Also in this range they have bright, cream blushers which I have had my eye on and another lipstick shad, but this was my favourite out of the two.

Top: One Coat for a sheer finish
Bottom: Multiple coats for a more pigmented colour

Have you any No7 favourites? Katie xoxo

Best deal ever from Illamasqua!! 8 Cream foundations for...

...£45.00!!!
Now is that a great deal or is that a great deal, at £21.50 each this full size cream foundation deal is amazing but before I go on I just want to apologise for my lack of blogging recently! I have been so busy as I have a new job working as a beauty therapist and have had no time!!

ILLAMASQUA CREAM FOUNDATIONS

So I saw on Illamasquas facebook page about the 8 Cream foundations for £45.00 deal and saw that I could email in and get it delivered to me house, as soon as I saw it I had to get it, it is a great deal and would be so good to help me build my make-up kit! (The offer was for one day only) So after plenty of please' and cups of teas, my mum bought it for me! The range of shades is really great from light to dark. The deal contains shades ; CF100, CF135, CF140, CF150, CF210, CF240, CF320 and CF350. (Shown in pictures, left to right)

They sent a card to say thank you for buying Illamasqua products and gave me 20 percent of their make-up courses which I thought was really lovely of them!

All cream foundations come with a lovely soft sponge with Illamasqua written across it for application purposes.
  The lighter shades
 The darker shades
For some reason the lighter shades show up similar colours in this picture but they definately aren't! I blame the flash!

The cream foundations have a creamy texture with a powdered finish as they contain powder and so there is no need to set with a setting powder, they give a medium coverage with one application and if you would like a fuller coverage you could do a second application. I feel these foundations would be great for combination-oily skin but not for dry skin as they are quite matte and I feel would attached to dry areas of the face and look flaky.

Illamasqua do some great deals and offers and are doing well for such a new brand on the market in comparison to other make-up brands, I shall definitely purchase from them again.

What are your favourite Illamasqua products?

Smokin Hot..

After posting a tutorial type post up the other day on 60's Make-up, I decided to do another but with a smokey eye look! I am going to be showing you how to do a silver and black smokey eye, but you can change the colours. Try dark brown and gold with bronzed skin for a Grecian goddess look, deep plums and purples for a vampy eye, silver and lilacs for a spring time pastel eye, the list is endless!

 * Warning- Do your eye make-up before your face make-up!*

What you will need:

Eyeshadow Primer
Natural, matte cream coloured base shadow
White metallic eyeshadow
Light silver eyeshadow
Dark, gun mental silver eyeshadow
Black eyeshadow
Sellotape
Black cream liner
Mascara
False lashes
Black kohl pencil

Step One: Begin with the eye make-up first so that any powder fall out can be cleaned and base done afterwards. Apply an eyeshadow primer to the eyelid, all the way up to the brow. Stick a small amount of sellotape along the diagonal of your eye, meeting with the outer corner of your eye. ( You don't have to do this but it just gives the make-up a dramatic edge and is a good guide.)

Step Two:  Apply a light cream coloured eyeshadow as a base, all over the eyelid up to the brow. Then apply the light silver eyeshadow all over the eyelid and blend into the crease.

Step Three: Blend the darker silver/grey shadow front he outer corner inwards and into the crease. The do the same with the black shadow, this creates definition. Apply the metallic white shadow to the  inner corner of the eyes, to instantly brighten the eyes.

Step Four: BLEND, BLEND, BLEND and then line the eyes with a black, cream eyeliner, both upper and lower lash line. Apply black kohl to your waterline.

Step Five: Apply plenty of mascara to your lashes and add false eyelashes.

Finished look
Step Six: Remove sellotape and any powder fall out under your eyes and apply your base make-up, blusher, lipstick/gloss etc and you're done :)

Pair with a nude lip and contoured cheeks. Here I used; MAC Lipstick in 'Imagine This' from the Christmas set and applied Collection 2000 Creme Puff Lip cream in 'Powder Puff 2' on top.

I used Sleek Face Contour kit in Medium to add definition the cheekbones, temples and jaw and Benefits Girl Meets Pearl highlighter on cheekbones to give a dewy glow.

Hope you found this post helpful. How do you wear your make-up on a night out?

Katie xoxo

Porefessionally Pretty

Hi Fellow Beauty Bloggers!

I wanted to share with you this great gift set/deal that Benefit are selling at the moment. As its my mothers birthday soon and she loves Benefits Porefessional Primer, I decided to get her this for one of her presents. Instead of just buying the Porefessional on its own I bought this set which comes with a mini Erase Paste in No2 and Girl Meets Pearl Highlighter, all for the same price as Porefessional on its own! £23.50. This is a really great deal as Erase Paste is a great concealer , especially under the eyes, with brightening properties and Girl meets pearl is a gorgeous highlighter that you can use in many ways; on the cheek bones, on the brow bones or mixed in with your foundation for a dewy, J-LO glow. It also has a lovely raspberry scent to it and is my favourite highlighter by Benefit, so if you love High Beam, you're sure to love this!

For those of you who may not know what Porefessional is, I shall explain. One of Benefit's best selling products,  Porefessional is a primer which you can use before foundation and also after  to minimise the appearance of pores and fine lines. It is oil-free, translucent, lightweight and gives a really silky finish to the skin.

The mini's are great sizes to carry with you in your bag, especially when you are on a night out! They may be small but they will last you a long time, with Erase Paste you only need a tiny bit otherwise you will look more on the cakey side rather than the clear side haha, a little goes a long way!!  The same goes with Porefessional, you only need the smallest amount and it will go far.

What primers do you like? Have you found any great deals recently?

Katie xoxo
